Kevin Barry Mahoney

Age: 46

Sex: male

Date: 6 Jan 2016

Place: Thomas Street, Briton Ferry, Neath, Port Talbot

Kevin Barry Mahoney was found dead in his socks and underwear in a lane behind the Briton Ferry Workingmen’s Club on Thomas Street on the morning of Wednesday 6 January 2016 at about 9.45am.

The rest of his clothes were never found.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of his murder, but later released.

The police said that they thought that his death was suspicious and appealed for anyone who knew what he had been doing in the days before his death.

His inquest concluded that he died from 'indeterminate causes'. The assistant coroner said that there were several factors relevant to his death:

  • Potential intoxication due to heroin and diazepam.
  • Hypothermia.
  • Blunt force head injury.

However, he said that it was not possible to say whether any of the factors were relevant to his death and stated that his cause of death was therefore indeterminate and as such an open verdict was returned.
